UCLA provides pre-health students with a multitude of resources in advising for program planning and the admissions process.

Pre-Health Course Requirement Worksheet

Most professional health programs require a general curriculum of chemistry, biology, math, and physics, which are listed in the UCLA Pre-Health Course Requirements Worksheet. This worksheet includes a recommended basic course of study for health professional schools.

Each school can ask for fewer or additional requirements.  Always confirm requirements for your top choice schools. For more specific course requirement information by health profession, click here to visit the homepage, and from there, click on the appropriate profession’s tile.

If you require further, individualized support, contact the appropriate academic advising unit, as detailed below.

Please note that the UCLA Career Center does not provide course planning support, academic advising, or information about course requirements for health professional schools.

Planning Your Courses

To assist with planning your courses, you may consider reviewing these curriculum options for biological science majors to find a path that would be best suited to your background and needs.  You may also find it useful to look at some specific degree paths for dozens of majors (click on “majors”).

Please note that your individual plan will likely not match these plans exactly, as you might have taken courses elsewhere or need to adjust your schedule based on course offerings and other commitments. Nonetheless, these plans will help provide some insight on what courses to prioritize.  We encourage that you always meet with an academic advisor to review your plan.
